Helen Steiner Rice Tour

The Helen Steiner Rice Tour is presented in honor of Lorain’s spirited and beloved Poet Laureate. This tour will feature artifacts and archival materials from the estate of Helen’s sister Gertrude Steiner that have recently been gifted to the Lorain Historical Society.

A sampling of Helen’s hats, clothes, photographs and poetry will be on view. We are proud to present this tour that will highlight the life of Helen and her sister Gertrude.

This tour will be held at the Moore House Museum, located at 309 W. 5th St., Lorain. Please call 440-245-2563 or email info@lorainhistory.org to reserve your place for the tour.  Admission is $5, payable at the door.

Programming Note:

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote. We have chosen to entitle our commemoration of this centennial “Beyond the 19th Amendment.” Our programs this year focus on stories of women, many of them from Lorain, who worked to improve their community during the time period leading up to and following the passing of the amendment.
